DPSRU celebrates 8th International Day of Yoga
Like every year 8th International Yoga Day was celebrated in Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research University, New Delhi. The whole program was based on Global theme: ‘Yoga for One World’ and Domestic theme is ‘Har Ghar Aangan Yoga’ which means Yoga in the courtyard of every house. A total of 170 teaching, non- teaching staff members and students participated with full enthusiasm. The program was celebrated in G.K. Narayanan Auditorium, DPSRU. The program was commenced by lamp lighting ceremony by the guests Dr. Shridhar Dwivedi and Mrs. Shakuntala Goyal, joined by Prof. Ramesh K. Goyal, Vice Chancellor, DPSRU and other staff members. Being a senior cardiologist Dr. Dwivedi elaborated about the importance of Yoga in life and how it connects the traditional medicine with modern medicine to keep body, heart and mind healthy. After this enlightening talk by Dr. Dwivedi, Prof. Ramesh K. Goyal also told about the importance of Yoga to be done with supervision of experts, specifically for those who suffer from musculoskeletal problems. Acharya C.P. Ray, the Yoga Guru of the university then demonstrated yoga asanas and pranayamas, where all the participants practiced whole heartedly and emphasized practicing yoga every single day. He elaborated the point that regular yoga practice lead to the better mental, physical and intellectual health. It positively changes the lifestyle of the people and increase the level of well-being. The entire celebration was started actually 15 days back in the university with the countdown before 21st June, 2023 and the whole program was coordinated by Dr. Shilpa Jain. In conclusion, Yoga Day is a global event that celebrates the practice of yoga, a centuries-old tradition that has gained immense popularity worldwide. The celebration of this day highlights the importance of yoga in promoting health and well-being, fostering intercultural dialogue, and promoting peace and harmony. We wish every year the tradition will be continued and cherished forever with new enthusiasm.
