World Patient Safety Day Commemorated in Odisha

Under the auspices of World Patient Safety Day, a day-long conclave on patient safety and quality was recently organised by the Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisations (CAHO) in collaboration with Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University. The event took place at the KIIT School of Management (KSOM) Auditorium, Bhubaneswar.


The Conclave was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), and KIMS. Dr Samanta is a renowned educationist and philanthropist dedicated to uplifting rural and underprivileged communities through education and healthcare.

   
The conclave saw the participation of esteemed guest speakers, including Dr Giridhar Gyani, Patron CAHO and Director General of Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI), Dr Vijay Agarwal, President of CAHO, Dr Lallu Joseph, Secretary General of CAHO, Dr Shankar Sengupta, Ms Gracy Mathai, and Dr Jeet Patwari, who delivered their expert insights and deliberations on patient safety and quality healthcare practices. Their collective expertise provided valuable guidance and knowledge to the attendees.

The event featured various panel discussions led by local hospital leaders, focusing on safety, quality, and service excellence. These discussions were highly appreciated by the more than 300 delegates in attendance, who actively participated, contributing to the event’s grand success. The organisers emphasised that this was the first conclave of its kind in Odisha, and the overwhelming response has inspired them to host more such events in the future to elevate the standards of patient care safety and quality in the region.
